[ DATA CENTERS ]
Three sites before closing
The situation
A data center operator needed seventeen pallets of networking equipment split across three regional facilities as part of a planned reallocation, all before each site's receiving office closed for the day.
What we did
Dispatch mapped the run in reverse order of closing time rather than geographic convenience, since missing the earliest-closing site would have meant carrying that freight over to the next day. The middle stop, a facility that had recently changed its dock procedure, required the driver to badge in at a security gate before proceeding, something dispatch confirmed with the site contact the day before rather than finding out on arrival.
Unloading at the first stop ran longer than expected because the receiving crew was short-staffed that morning. Dispatch adjusted the estimated arrival for the remaining two stops and confirmed both sites could still take the later delivery before the driver left the first location. Site contacts at each stop were kept updated by phone as the schedule shifted, so none of them were caught planning around the original times.
The result
All three deliveries were completed within the day, with the final site confirming receipt shortly before its cutoff.
