Flatbed timed to a crane window
The situation
A construction contractor needed a flatbed of prefabricated structural I-beams delivered to a job site to align with a narrow crane rental window. There was no room to stage the beams on-site ahead of time, since the lot was already tight with other material deliveries and equipment, which meant the truck had to arrive close to the actual lift time rather than early.
What we did
Dispatch worked backward from the crane's confirmed arrival time and built in some buffer, accounting for unpredictable local traffic near a school zone the route passed through.
The site foreman let dispatch know the crane had shown up ahead of schedule and asked whether the load was close. Dispatch had been in contact with the driver throughout the morning and was able to give a confirmed estimate rather than a guess.
The result
The truck arrived shortly after, giving the crew time to unstrap the load before the rental clock started running against material handling. The contractor confirmed the beams were set and the crane released on schedule.
