Rerouted inside a delivery window
The situation
An agricultural equipment manufacturer needed a batch of combine harvester transmission components delivered to align with a specific point in its production sequence, under a schedule with no room to stage extra inventory on the plant floor. The delivery couldn't run early or late.
What we did
The customer's production planner gave dispatch a delivery window rather than a single target time, which is typical for this kind of freight. Dispatch calculated a departure that would land the truck in the middle of that window under normal conditions.
Not far from the plant, the driver hit a temporary lane closure from a resurfacing project that hadn't been on the original route plan. Dispatch was tracking the truck's progress and rerouted around the closure using a parallel state highway, adding some time but keeping the delivery inside the original window.
The result
The components arrived with time to spare before the point in the sequence when they were needed. The receiving department confirmed receipt by phone shortly after, and no adjustment to the delivery schedule was required.
