Straight truck with its liftgate lowered at a retail store receiving door in the evening, cartons stacked on the platform

After-hours drop before the weekend

The situation

A retail distributor needed a replenishment shipment delivered to a store ahead of a weekend sales event, after a supplier delay pushed the inventory's availability back by most of a day, compressing the time available before the store's original restocking schedule.

What we did

The store's receiving office closed early on Thursday and Friday, and store policy didn't allow after-hours deliveries without a manager present. Dispatch called the store directly on Wednesday to confirm a manager could be on-site for a Thursday evening delivery rather than assume standard hours would apply. Missing that window would have pushed the delivery to Friday, leaving almost no time for stocking before Saturday's opening.

A straight truck was loaded and dispatched with enough lead time to reach the store before Thursday's cutoff. The consignee requested a liftgate unload rather than dock-high, since the store's receiving door was undersized for standard trailer height, a detail confirmed during the Wednesday call rather than discovered at the curb.

The result

The delivery was completed that evening. The store confirmed the shipment was received in time to begin stocking, and the event opened Saturday as scheduled.
