Frozen load rerouted around snow

The situation

A regional food distributor needed a full trailer of frozen bakery products moved from a cold storage facility outside Denver to a distribution center in Kansas City, with a forecast calling for heavy snow settling over I-70 for most of the transit window.

What we did

The reefer trailer was pre-cooled before loading to ensure the required temperature was established ahead of time, giving the load a buffer to absorb a longer trip than planned without drifting out of range. Dispatch tracked the storm through Thursday night and shifted the route south onto a secondary corridor that added some distance but avoided the worst of the accumulation reported near Salina: a longer route on paper, but the more predictable one given the conditions.

Temperature readings were checked periodically and stayed within range for the entire trip. The driver lost time to reduced speeds through blowing snow near the Kansas line, and dispatch passed that delay along to the receiving distribution center as soon as it became apparent rather than waiting until the truck showed up late against the original appointment.

The result

The load arrived behind the original schedule but inside the distribution center's rescheduled receiving window. The temperature log showed no excursion outside the required range, and the consignee accepted the shipment without further adjustment.
